Damian is currently studying a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Music at the University of New England with a goal of becoming a classroom music teacher and professional musician. He is currently transitioning away from the IT Industry to follow his lifelong passion of playing music and being involved in the various aspects of the music industry.
Damian has been playing Trombone for over 35 years and has enjoyed playing in numerous bands across a variety of styles. In his earlier years he performed in concert bands, jazz bands and orchestras as well as playing in the Queensland Youth Orchestra’s Wind Ensemble, Jazz band and the Second Youth Orchestra.
While he did not continue studying music after leaving school, he has continued to play in various community bands throughout Queensland and New South Wales including the South Bank Marching band, Brisbane Symphonic Band, BSB Swing and Stringybark Jazz Band. He also played in the pit for many musicals in Brisbane and some professional musicals at the Gold Coast Arts Centre. The highlight of these would be playing for Sweeny Todd with Rob Guest.
Since moving to Canberra in 2012, he has continued playing in various community bands and pit bands for musicals with the Queanbeyan Players. He is currently playing with the Blamey Street and Connexion Big Bands.
