About Helena

Helena began studying the clarinet at the age of 10. She has completed a bachelor’s degree with first class honours in music at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide, South Australia. While doing so, she studied under the tutelage of Dean Newcomb, principal clarinet of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with various ensembles in Adelaide, and has moved to Canberra to undertake a Master Degree in Teaching.

While her primary instrument is clarinet, she has also played saxophone in a number of settings. She is an experienced performer and has played in a number of musicals requiring both saxophone and clarinet. She has also played in various community and educational wind and symphony orchestras, as well as chamber ensembles.

Helena believes strongly in providing a positive and fun learning experience while encouraging students to improve technically. She enjoys getting to know her students in order to provide the best learning environment for each person.
