ACTAM has a wonderful range of groups to share your musical skills and joy with others! Our groups are open to all students, not just those taking individual lessons with ACTAM. Discounts are offered for annual payment.
Anchor 8
Adults String Ensemble - Tuesdays at 6:15pm with Charlotte
A lovely group for all those amateur string players out there! This is an adult or upper teen ensemble which plays wonderful well known classical favourites for the pleasure of it. Friendly group and great music!
Fees: $375/semester (45mins x 20 weeks)

Adults Cello Ensemble - Wednesdays at 7pm with Ariel
A lovely group for amateur cello players to come together and play some nice music together.

Music Craft Classes - with Anthony
This course has been offered at ACTAM since 2015. Music Craft group class follows the AMEB Music Craft course. This course is a fairly recent addition to the AMEB Theory syllabuses, bringing the teaching of music theory in line with international best practice, with a more contemporary feel and applying to a broader range of music than the previous theory courses. The 45-minute weekly tutorial format allows time for questions and group discussion as well as individual work, which takes the form of written exercises from the AMEB Music Craft Student Workbook appropriate for the grade.
Fees: $400/semester (30 - 45mins x 20 weeks)

Boomwhackers Orchestra - TBA with Charlotte
It not just great fun, Boomwhacking at the level this group works requires the development of great co-ordination and rhythmic skill.
And the group really does have a good laugh - we believe this group is not only good for musicianship but for stress relief as well!
The group is suitable for high school students aged 12 to 18yrs. Some prior musical experience is preferred, however all the skills needed can be learned within the group. Places are available now so give Boomwhacking a try!

Junior String Ensemble - Saturdays at 2:30pm with Ariel

For budding string players of mixed age who are looking for their first ensemble experience. This is a small and positive group offering important basic skills for many happy years of orchestral playing!
Students need to have been taking lessons for at least 12 months or be at approximately 1st grade standard to enter the ensemble. Current age of the members is from 5yrs to 12yrs.
Fees: $325/semester (30mins x 20 weeks)

Intermediate String Ensemble - Saturdays at 1pm
Anchor 12
Continued orchestral skills and experience for string players of approximately
grade 3 to 5 standard. This ensemble enjoys wonderful and exciting repertoire
and performs in student concerts.
This group is suitable for players aged from 8yrs to any age.
New members can join at the start of any term.

Advanced String Ensemble - TBA
This string ensemble is for more experienced players of grade 5 standard and above. The repertoire is exciting and challenging and the group has been invited to perform for small events. This group is always a highlight at ACTAM student concerts!
This group is suitable for players aged from 12yrs to any age.
New members can join at the start of any term.

ACTAM Chamber Players - Sessional weeks with Charlotte
Anchor 14
This new ACTAM group is high level training and performance experience for advanced students. Grade 8 standard is expected to join the ensemble and audition or teacher recommendation is required. This ensemble allows students to sit beside professionals in rehearsal and performance, the most valuable orchestral training possible.
This group is suitable for players of any age. Several places are currently available for violin (2), viola (1), cello (1).
New members can join at the start of a semester.
Fees: This group is non fee paying and instead presents concerts and demands a high level of commitment.
