About Samuel
Growing up in rural North Queensland, Sam learned piano, saxophone and singing, performed solos and accompanied singers, instrumentalists and ballet exams. He gained experience in choirs and bands and travelled to attend holiday music camps. Sam has played keyboard for many Burdekin Singers music theatre productions in Ayr, most recently Addams Family, Boy from Oz, Phantom of the Opera and Wicked.
Sam studied classical piano with Oleg Stepanov at Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, Brisbane, graduating with B.Music in 2016. He accompanied fellow students in recitals, played in the Conservatorium Orchestra and sang with St John’s College Choral Scholars.
Since moving to Queanbeyan in 2017, Sam has played piano in recitals at Wesley Music Centre and accompanied students for AMEB exams. He has been welcomed into the Canberra music theatre community, playing keyboard for Canberra Philharmonic’s productions of Chicago, Strictly Ballroom, Barnum and Beauty and the Beast; for Canberra Opera performances and for Free Rain’s 42nd Street.
Sam enjoys teaching piano and aims to inspire a love of music and develop performance skills in his students.
